Dunlop expands support of American Flat Track series

BUFFALO, N.Y. (Feb. 23, 2017) – Dunlop Motorcycle Tires proudly announces a new level of support for the growing American Flat Track series (AFT). As the Official Motorcycle Tire for the series through 2019, Dunlop is stepping up technical support in the form of additional tire choices, along with a higher level of contingency payouts to the racers.

At select rounds for the AFT Twins class, competitors will have the option of choosing between two Dunlop DT3 tire compound tires; this allows racers to match tire setup to specific track conditions on race day, thereby introducing a new level of race craft and competition. The race venues will be announced in advance, and the DT3 options will be offered for trackside sales to AFT Twins teams.

In addition, Dunlop will increase contingency offerings by nearly 300 percent and expand payout to first- through fifth-place finishers in both the AFT Twins and AFT Singles classes. Payout will be $500, $400, $300, $200 and $100 for the respective finishers.

“Dunlop is bringing an expanded degree of support to the AFT series in two important ways,” said Michael Lock, CEO of American Flat Track. “This new contingency program benefits a greater number of racers, and the new tire options will bring more excitement to the racing as well. We are proud to have Dunlop as a partner, a company which understands racing and is fully committed to helping us grow the sport.”

“A made-in-America series such as American Flat Track deserves the best made-in-America tires, and that’s what we offer with the Dunlop DT3,” said Mike Buckley, Dunlop Motorcycle’s Vice President of Sales and Marketing. “Dunlop is the only brand developing and manufacturing motorcycle tires in the U.S.A. and the additions to the DT3 offerings, which is manufactured in our Buffalo, N.Y. plant, is a great example of our commitment to help grow and evolve the sport.”

American Flat Track will kick off the 2017 season during Daytona’s Bike Week festivities on Thursday, March 16 with the all-new DAYTONA TT, built inside the tri-oval at Daytona International Speedway. The DAYTONA TT will mark the dawning of a new era for America’s most historic form of motorcycle racing, and the “World Center of Racing” will serve as the first battleground for the great American war between Harley-Davidson and Indian Motorcycles in 2017. Tickets for the DAYTONA TT are now on sale and can be purchased at www.daytonainternationalspeedway.com.
