SACRAMENTO, CA (Aug. 2, 2021) – The winning rider in American Flat Track history, Scott Parker, will be returning to the site of his 13 main event victories when the Michigan racer appears in the “Motorcycle Legends” activities at the Law Tigers Legendary Sacramento Mile presented by Knauf Insulation AFT national motorcycle doubleheader races set for Sept. 11-12 at the Cal Expo Mile dirt oval.

Parker, who retired after the 1999 season as a full-time flat track racer, won a record 94 Grand National races (55 on Miles and 35 on Half-Miles) and nine Grand National series championships, easily the most by any flat track rider. Scott won Grand National races in all four forms of flat track racing – Miles, Half-Miles, TT Steeplechase and Short Track.

The Sacramento Mile was one of Parker’s premiere tracks with 13 wins and other close finishes on the podium (Top 3) with his 55 Mile dirt track victories. Scott’s Cal Expo wins came in 1985, 1986, 1987, 1988, 1989 (twice), 1990, 1992, 1994 (twice), 1996, 1997 and 1998, and his nine national titles were recorded in 1988. 1989, 1990, 1991, 1994, 1995, 1996, 1997 and 1998. Parker is one of two riders to win five consecutive Grand National series titles (Chris Carr is the other).

“Sacramento was always a great track for me,” said Parker, the 1979 AMA Rookie of the Year. “We had some great battles at Cal Expo. I lost a few close ones too. Luckily, I won the most of any rider at Sacramento. I’m looking forward to returning to Cal Expo and seeing the fans again.”

A rookie in the famed 1979 class, Parker was the youngest to win a Grand National Expert event at DuQuoin, IL, at age 17. In his 22-year-old pro racing career, Parker rode exclusively for Harley-Davidson.

Parker will be joined by a large group of Motorcycle “Legends” who will sign autographs and meet the fans and riders during the Law Tigers Sacramento Mile Doubleheader weekend.

Three of the stars of the famed “On Any Sunday” motorcycle feature film, Mert Lawwill, Jim Rice and David Aldana, are scheduled to participate in the “Legends” weekend events. Lawwill, who won his first AMA Grand National race at the California State Fairgrounds Mile track in 1965, captured the 1969 national points title and won 15 national races in his storied career, while Rice took 12 national event wins and Aldana won four national contests.

Other top stars expected in the “Legends” activities on Sept. 11-12 include Grand National race winners Jim Odom, Dave Hansen, Ronnie Jones and Jody Nicholas as well as former Speedway champions Mike Bast, Gene Woods and Sonny Nutter. Famed women motorcycle racers Nichole Mees, this year’s Sacramento Mile Grand Marshal and the highest placing women in the SuperTwins division, Sue Fish, former national motocross champion, and Marcia Holley, once the fastest women motorcycle rider, will be in the “Legends” participants at Cal Expo.

The Legends will sign autographs during the Legends Autograph Session on Saturday at 2:30 p.m. PDT and Sunday at 11:30 am PDT.
