AMA Pro Flat Track Riders Gearing Up For Hagerstown Half-Mile

HAGERSTOWN, Md. (July 4, 2013) - Following a disappointing rain-out at the Lima Half-Mile last weekend, AMA Pro Flat Track presented by J&P Cycles is taking the series east to visit Hagerstown Speedway for the Hagerstown Half-Mile in Hagerstown, Md. on July 6th, 2013. This 4th of July weekend is expected to be filled with some incredible dirt track racing amongst some of the most impressive talent in the world as it has been nearly two months since the stars of the sport have lined up against each other on the professional grid.

Last season, fans witnessed Jared Mees claim his first and only win of the season here on his way to a Grand National Championship. However, so far in 2013, the Cleo, Mich. native has had anything but a championship caliber season. Mees began the year with a third-place effort at Daytona but has since gone on to finish 15th and 16th in the following races.

It just so happens that Mees caught a bit of luck in Lima with the rain-out, as he injured himself earlier that week and was not expected to race on the half-mile gravel circuit. It still remains uncertain if Mees will be able to give it a go this weekend at the Hagerstown Half-Mile due to his recent injury but the No. 1 plated superstar is certainly in striking distance in the points, currently sitting 7th in the overall standings.

With over 60 total riders listed to compete at the Hagerstown Half-Mile, it is sure to be a thrilling day of racing. Many questions loom as to what could possibly unfold and only time will reveal the answers.

After coming off a stunning performance in his first race back from tearing his ACL, can Sammy Halbert roll over his momentum from Stockton to Hagerstown and keep running the pace? The bittersweet feeling of second-place has hung over Brad Baker's head all season, can he finally seal the deal and claim his first ever Grand National Expert main event victory? Will reigning champion Jared
Mees be healthy enough to compete in the highly anticipated match?

While there are several intriguing questions leading up to the historic half-mile event, one thing is for certain - Brandon Robinson's cover is blown. The current Grand National Championship points leader has been the ultimate success story thus far in 2013. It will be very interesting to see how the young star will react without the element of surprise moving forward.

Look for Robinson, Halbert, Baker and company to try and stamp their name in the record books as the Hagerstown Half-Mile is always one of the most prominent races on the schedule every year. Opening ceremonies will begin at 8:00 p.m. local time on Saturday, July 6th. For tickets and more information regarding the event, please visit http://www.hagerstownspeedway.com/.
