Brandon Robinson: “I’m looking forward to getting things kicked off here in Daytona.”

As the clock winds down to the 2017 American Flat Track season opener – the DAYTONA TT - on March 16, the anticipation grows. And with the announcement of the three rider team that Harley-Davidson is bringing to the table to battle with Indian’s three rider Wrecking Crew, it’s almost fever pitch. We had a chance to catch up with the youngest member of Harley-Davidson’s squad, Brandon Robinson, to talk about his new factory gig, his preparations for 2017 and being hungry for the new season.

It’s an exciting time in the series with these new rules, class restructuring and all of that. Also first time for having six factory riders. How does it feel to be one of them?

It’s pretty cool. Like you said, it’s a special time in the sport right now. So just to have the opportunity to ride for Harley is a huge honor. I’m looking forward to getting things kicked off here in Daytona.

Have you had any time on the XG750R yet?

Yeah, we’ve gotten to ride it a little bit. I’m looking forward to riding some more and getting things dialed in so we’re ready to go come Daytona.

Have you done anything to change your off-season training regimen?

Not really, just focusing on my training. I’m actually staying with (Kenny) Coolbeth here for now and enjoying the warm weather in Florida. Back home really sucks. Just getting down there and being able to ride and train is kind of nice. And to train with someone like Kenny’s caliber, it only helps to push each other. It’s pretty good.

Also one of the biggest storylines is having that Harley/Indian rivalry renewed. How does it feel to be smack-dab in the middle of that?

It’s pretty cool. There’s a little bit of pressure there. Obviously you want to beat new competitors, but it’s not just going to be them guys. There’s going to be a lot of good riders. It’s a brand new game and you can’t count anybody out.
