Sacramento, Calif. (July 26, 2013) - When the AMA Pro Sacramento Mile presented by Miller Lite and brought to you by Greg Padilla Bail Bonds and SDI Insulation thunders off the startline on Saturday, July 27th at Cal Expo, Bryan Smith will be on a mission…to score his third straight victory at Sacramento.

“I definitely like the Sacramento Mile,” says the Flint, Mich., resident. “It suits me well and obviously it has been good to me. In fact, I raced a non-AMA event here in 2003 and won that time too. I tend to do well on mile tracks. Even when I was young, back to when I rode 250cc bikes. I’ve always done better on the mile tracks and won more races on a mile track than other layouts. Hopefully I can do it again this time out.”

Notorious for using the power of his Crosley Radio Kawasaki to pull away on the back and front stretches, Smith, the 2012 Grand National Expert Twins champion finished fourth in last year’s overall championship.

AMA Pro Flat Track is like no other form of motorsports. It is fast…It is exciting…It is very, very close. Hitting speeds up to 130 mph and racing handlebar-to-handlebar, this type of racing allows no time to coast and no time to strategize. It is sheer go-for-it from beginning to end.

“This series has some of the best riders in the world,” says Smith. I love the competition. You look at the lap times at Daytona, and there’s not even a second between the fastest and the slowest. The competition is so tight, there’s never one guy that’s going to dominate, so there’s always a chance you can come out on top. Every year’s a learning year, regardless if you’re a rookie or at the top and that means it is always exciting.”

While Smith will definitely be on a mission so will the entire rest of the field.

Looking to make up for lost time will be reigning Grand National champion Jared Mees. Returning from an arm injury, Mees, a resident of Clio, Mich., was forced to sit out the last round and is now ranked 10th in the point standings, which doesn’t sit well with him. Eager to take his rightful place at the front of the field, he will be up for the challenge when the green flag waves. And these are only two riders out of a full field.

While it is pretty much up to Lady Luck who wins, the one thing that’s for certain is that every single rider will be going for the win when the 48th running of the AMA Pro Sacramento Mile gets underway on Saturday, July 27th at Cal Expo.
