Calistoga Half-Mile

Nestled in the heart of California’s Wine Country, it’s hard to imagine a more picturesque scene for a race than Calistoga Speedway. Fans attending the Sept. 26 event shouldn’t be fooled by the postcard-perfect, Western-style downtown full of amazing eateries, shops and, of course, places to sip some of the finest wine on the planet. When the sun starts to set, the speedway lights up with thunderous action.

Last year, Calistoga provided a season’s worth of drama in the GNC1 main event alone. Championship leader Bryan Smith looked fast, but his bike started to smoke, bringing out a black flag. Smith failed to heed the flag and was later disqualified, allowing Jared Mees to be scored in second behind Brad Baker and take a commanding lead into the finale, where he would wrap up his 2015 title.

Rest assured, no one will forget what played out at Calistoga last year, and plenty more than a little revenge will be on the line when the green flag flies.

In the GNC2 ranks, Davis Fisher recorded his first professional victory and tightened the points battle as eventual champion Kyle Johnson crashed out on the race’s first lap.
