Champion Jake Johnson Ready for Daytona with Super Sized Program

WINTER GARDEN, Fla. (February 14, 2011) - AMA Pro Racing’s Flat Track champion Jake Johnson gears up for the 2011 season double header opener March 10th and 11th at Daytona International Speedway in Florida.

Johnson will support the number one plate on a Zanotti Racing backed Honda CRF450, with preparations by Ted McDermitt (mechanic/crew chief) and Steve Scott (fabricator).

His program also highlights aggressive support from Motion Pro, Arai, Boughner Racing, EBC, Sidi, Troy Lee Designs, S Designs, Tucker Rocky, Utopia, Leo Vince, Web Camshafts, Silkolene, Tsubaki, K&N, Cometic, NJK Leathers, Millennium Tech, G2 Ergo, Vortex, Hinson, The Service Pavilion, Hot Shoes by George, KWS, Ferrea, Mike Hacker67, A&A, Gene & Gail, Nort, Pinit Motorsports, Honda Peninsula, She Loves Racing, and Oury Grips.

Johnson’s consistency at Daytona sets him apart from the field. He has won three times in the last four years and claims Daytona is his type of track.

“I have always done well at Daytona," said Johnson. "The surface is always changing and I can quickly adjust. Racing on small tracks near home, ice racing, and trail riding keep me ready for anything. I have great equipment powered by leaders in the industry and a great crew."

Prior to entering the events in Florida, Johnson will instruct a two day riding school in Virginia at RIDE Academy; showcasing his talents to the students as they also prepare for Daytona. He will also compete in Savannah, Ga. and several Barberville races leading up to the nationals on the Zanotti Racing-Schaeffer's H-D XR750.

“This is a big year for me while I defend the Championship, it's a target on my back for sure," adds Johnson. "I need to step up my game, stay strong and depend on my team more then ever. I feel privileged to carry the number one plate; it definitely was a group effort. Now I must continue the tradition. Looking forward to starting the season off right."
