With round 1 of the 2018 American Flat Track series – the DAYTONA TT – less than two weeks away, Cory Texter is geared up and ready to get the 18-event season started. After spending his entire career racing in the AFT Twins class, Texter is moving this year to the competitive and fan-popular AFT Singles category.

“This off-season has been crazy,” Texter said. “After struggling to put together the funds to field a competitive Twins program, my supporters and I made the decision to compete in the Singles class this year. The bikes in this class are essentially equal, and I like the fact that good results are more up to the rider than the motorcycle.”

D&D Cycles, Law Tigers Motorcycle Lawyers, Stay The Course Clothing Company, Lancaster Honda, and Classic Harley-Davidson are headlining Texter’s efforts this season. In addition, the team has partnerships with companies supplying parts and products for his Honda CRF450Rs.

Rob McLendon from D&D Cycles will serve as Texter’s crew chief and lead mechanic. McLendon is a former professional license holder in both roadracing and flat track. He has built engines and worked with many well-known riders, such as Bobby Fong, Steve Rapp, and Sammy Halbert.

“I have always been impressed with Cory’s level of dedication to the sport on and off the track”, said McLendon. “The guy is always grinding and working hard. I wanted to get involved with his efforts not only because I feel he can succeed, but also because I feel I can make a difference with his program. It’s going to be a fun season.”

Tom Draina, an experienced mechanic who has worked with dozens of riders, will provide additional support at the track.

Texter has spent the majority of his off-season in Florida training at the Pensacola Dirt Track with factory Harley-Davidson riders Brandon Robinson and Jarod Vanderkooi.

“I am very confident in my program this season,” Texter said. “We don’t have the financial support we’ve had in the past, but everyone has been working extremely hard and the team is motivated and determined to reach its goals. I am blessed to have this opportunity to keep racing motorcycles at this level, and I can’t wait for the season to start.”
