Facebook Five Questions: Kolby Carlile
Talk about being in the hot seat! Kolby Carlile not only got asked about his plans next season, but also about how he felt about winning the AFT Singles title without a win in 2017. Here’s what he had to say…
Are you staying in AFT Singles or moving up to the Twins next year? And are you staying with same team?
I am staying in the Singles class for one more year, but I will be racing a Twin at both Springfield Mile events. I signed a two-year deal with Estenson Racing back in July, so I will be with the same team for all of 2018.
Will you ever cut your hair?
No. I enjoy being different from the rest of the paddock, and I always look to do my own thing when I get the opportunity.
How do you feel about not winning a race this season and Shayna winning five times? Who is the real champ?
I feel great about it. My job was to go out and win an AFT Singles title. Winning races would have just been a bonus along the way. Shayna did a great job this year, but consistency won the war. I’m very happy with getting eight podiums while riding for three different teams.
Growing up who was one of your racing role models?
I’ve always looked up to one of my good friends JD Beach. He dedicates his life to be the best he can be on any kind of motorcycle and it pays off. He’s a great role model for kids to look up to.
Will you ever win a race?
Yes, I won in 2016 and I was pretty confident in a win at Lima this year. 2018 will be different. My team is giving me access to allow me to do whatever I feel will keep me at the top of the class next year. I am taking full advantage of it, and you will be able to see more about this throughout the winter. I am willing to do whatever it takes to defend my number one plate.
