Philpot, KY (April 4, 2018) – MotoAmerica road racing star JD Beach will once again slide his steel shoe over his left boot as he returns to American Flat Track competition in Round 2 of the AFT Twins presented by Vance & Hines championship at the Atlanta Short Track this Saturday at Dixie Speedway in Woodstock, Georgia.
Coming off his runner-up result at the DAYTONA TT last month, JD hopes to improve his race finish by one more position and notch an AFT Twins Main Event win aboard his #95 G&G Racing/Rickdiculous/Team95/Yamaha FZ-07 flat tracker. But he knows it won’t be easy, as his competition knows Dixie Speedway well, and this will be JD’s first-ever visit to the hard-packed, 3/8-mile dirt oval.
“At the last two AFT events I’ve done – Perris Raceway last October, and the Daytona TT last month – none of my competition nor I had raced on either of those tracks before,” said JD. “But going into Dixie Speedway is a bit of an unknown for me. The other riders competed there last year, and I didn’t, so I need to get up to speed quickly. But I'm very excited to be put to the test at Dixie, and to challenge myself to dial the bike in and be race-ready in the 12 laps of practice we get. It's going to be interesting, but I'm looking forward to trying to put my Yamaha FZ-07 in the battle at the front.”
Last week, JD participated in the MotoAmerica Dunlop Preseason Test at Barber Motorsports Park in Birmingham, Alabama, aboard his #95 Monster Energy/Yamalube/Yamaha Extended Service/Graves/Yamaha YZF-R6 Supersport machine. He’ll be back aboard his Yamaha R6 again next weekend when he competes in the Supersport class at Round 1 of the 2018 MotoAmerica AMA/FIM North American Road Racing Championship, which takes place at Road Atlanta on April 13-15.
The Atlanta Short Track gets under way at Dixie Speedway this Saturday afternoon, with AFT Twins practice scheduled to begin at 2:15 PM.
