DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (January 10, 2014) – Live steaming of the Superprestigio, a dirt track event located in Barcelona, Spain, hosted by 2013 MotoGP Champion Marc Marquez, will be aired LIVE at www.cycleworld.com this Saturday, January 11, 2014 beginning at 9:00 a.m. Pacific Standard Time. Reigning AMA Pro Flat Track Grand National Champion Brad Baker is the most notable rider from the United States that will be competing in the full-day event this weekend as he tries to capture the coveted checkered flag, which will be waived by AMA Pro Flat Track’s very own eccentric flag man, Kevin Clark. The event will take place at the Palau Sant Jordi on Mantjuic, a hill in Barcelona and in a stadium that has a capacity of over 15,000 people. The event will be broadcasted live on Spanish television stations and AMA Pro Racing will work in conjunction with Cycle World to give fans in the United States the same exact kind of viewing experience on www.cycleworld.com.

As of today, a total of 75 riders from all over the globe have met qualifications and are entered to compete in the event, 57 of whom will battle it out through a series of heats to make it to the Super Final.

The event is split up into three classes. The Road Racing/GP Class (Superpresitigio), which so far has 21 riders entered to compete, including the three current MotoGP world champions: Marc Marquez, Pol Espargaro and Maverick Vinales, plus the winner of the CRT class overall, Aleix Esparagro, and two former world champions, Alvaro Bautista and Simon Crafar. The field also includes current MotoGP riders Bradley Smith and Hector Barbera.

The Open Class includes 36 riders led by AMA Pro Flat Track Grand National Champion Brad Baker, plus well-known AMA Pro Flat Track competitor Merle Scherb. Other top riders in the Open Class include Francesco Cucharrera, an unknown rider outside of Spain but a terror in Spanish dirt track, world-endurance rider and Super TT specialist Dani Ribalta, Alan Birtwistle from United Kingdom and winner of the European Dirt Track Festival at the Noyes Camp, and Jaume Gaya, a talented rider who came in second in the festival. The Open Class main event is 12 laps.

The eventual top three from each class’s final standings will go to the 12-lap “Super Final.” On behalf of the promoter, Brad Baker and Marc Marquez will receive automatic bids to the Super Final regardless of their performance in their respective heats.

The Junior Class makes up the third and final class which includes all riders less than 18 years of age. Spanish Moto3 National Champion Maria Herra, Wayne Gardner’s two sons, Luca and Remy, and Britain’s Oliver Brindley highlight an impressive group of young talent that will make up the 18-rider Junior Class, all chosen from the top riders at the Noyes Camp Dirt Track School.
