Mikey Avila Ready to Carry the SDI Insulation Banner into Battle

Released on Behalf of SDI Insulation Race Team and Mikey Avila:

(May 26, 2012) - Ready to carry the SDI Insulation banner into battle, AMA Pro Flat Track ace Mikey Avila and the SDI Insulation race team head to Springfield, Ill., and the running of rounds three and four of the AMA Pro Harley-Davidson Insurance Grand National Championship, May 26th and 27th.

“I can’t wait to get back into the race action,” says Avila. “It has been over two months since Daytona and that is a long time. Plus this will be the first time this season that we have ridden in the Pro Twins class and that makes it doubly exciting.”

In his rookie season in the highly competitive Pro Twins Class, Avila has been racing since he was four years old. A definite talent, this California native has more than proven his skill aboard two wheels. Running in the Pro Singles last season, Avila finished took six wins and four podium finishes to earn second overall.

“Springfield is tough,” says Avila. “The Mile is really fast and very close. Not only do you need a hooked up machine, but you have to be up on it every second. All it takes is one wrong move and you’re completely out of the running. Even more important, is the fact that you really need luck on your side. I took the Checkered in the TT and an 8th in the Mile last year in the Pro Singles. This time out, I’m hoping that Lady Luck smiles on me so I can finish in the top in both races.

The competition in the Pro Twins class is really tough and you need to be in top shape both mentally and physically to do well,” continues Avila. During the two months off, I have been training and riding hard every day. I am definitely feeling strong and ready to do my best to battle my way to the top of the pack. The SDI Insulation Team is ready, my bikes are ready and I am ready. All we need is a little help from Lady Luck.”

In addition to SDI Insulation, Avila is sponsored by Serramonte Ford, Circle Bell Racing, Boughner Racing, Mack Daddy Racing, Galvin Precession Machining, Arai, Kal Gard, Alpinestars, Motion Pro, Westcoast Hotshoes, K&N Filters, Dickle Racing, Fox, Matrix Concepts, Works Connection, Hooper Motorsports and EBC Brakes
