Note: We will be counting down the top five most memorable moments in 2014 from the GNC1 ranks each day this week. This is No. 3.
DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (Nov. 19, 2014) – Very few American athletes have asserted more dominance at a particular venue than Henry Wiles has at Peoria Race Park over the last decade. Wiles secured his record-setting 10th consecutive Peoria TT checkered flag, pacing runner-up finisher and eventual Grand National Champion Jared Mees by 1.811 seconds in Round 12 of the 2014 season last August.
“It feels amazing to be able to win 10 in a row at the Peoria TT,” Wiles said. “This place means so much to me. The race atmosphere, the fans are always awesome in Peoria. If you haven’t seen this race, you’re missing a little piece of American history.”
Mounted on his No. 17 Don’s Kawasaki motorcycle, Wiles was strong from the beginning, finishing fastest in qualifying and winning the Dash for Cash. His main event victory was his second of two on the 2014 season, as his first came just two races prior at the Castle Rock TT.
Only time will tell if Wiles will be able to keep his impressive streak alive in 2015. For now, his efforts have landed him third on our list of most memorable GNC1 moments of last year.
