AMAP: Where are you from?
KC: I’m from Morris, Connecticut. I’ve been here my whole life, though I’ve lived in Morris for six years now.

AMAP: Living that far north has to have its benefits when riding on the ice in the winter time, huh?
KC: Yep! I ride on the ice quite a bit. This past winter was pretty good with motocross and ice riding. The weather was on and off, so we got to ride on the ice quite a bit. I got close to 10-12 hours on my ice bike and about double that on my motocross bike

AMAP: How’d you get into riding motorcycles?
KC: My dad raced, and his father raced, so it went from there. I started when I was five years old and never looked back.

AMAP: You performed really well at Daytona Flat Track. Tell us about your experience there this year.
KC: I felt it went really well. We finished the weekend with some good points. We were consistent and finished in fourth place both nights, and were in both ‘dash for cash’ races both nights. That’s what it’s going to take to meet our goals. We’re there to win the championship at the end of the year. That championship isn’t won in the first couple races, but throughout the year. We should be good, but we need to stay healthy and consistent.

AMAP: You just announced that you had Sunoco come on board as your Expert Singles fuel sponsor. Tell us how that came together.
KC: Sunoco Racing Fuels stepped up for my singles program this year. I’m really pumped up about it! We’re going to be going out of the shop, close to my hometown, which is New England Lubricants. It’s a little race shop that carries Sunoco Race Fuel. They’re going to be helping get the fuel to me. It’s going to be cool to bring on new sponsors and people into the sport. We need more people that haven’t been in the sport to see how great it is.

AMAP: Our next rounds are the Springfield TT and Springfield Mile May 26th-27th. Tell us your thoughts on the famed event.
KC: Well, the TT is that Saturday, and I usually do pretty well there. I just need to get good starts and be good right out of the box. That place is hard to pass, so if we get good starts, we’ll be a contender. That Sunday is the Springfield Mile. That race has been really good to us. I’m looking forward to it, we just need to be in the right spot at the right time. I’ve been around that track quite a bit, so think that I have a little advantage to some of the guys. We have a lot of good things going on with our sponsors, and have more people coming onboard, which should be really good. The guys have been working hard on the engines, and are pumped up, just like me.

AMAP: What would you say is your favorite type of racetrack?
KC: I don’t have a favorite style, I like them all. I have the attitude that you can’t go there and say, this is a piece of junk racetrack. Your attitude is huge when you go to a racetrack, and I go there to race and do my best. If I don’t win, the following year, I put my head down, figure out where I went wrong and try to improve.

AMAP: Out of all the motorcycles that you’ve ridden, what would you say is your favorite?
KC: It’d have to be my Harley-Davidson XR750 race bike. It’s just so much fun to ride!

AMAP: Last year, you did really well in the standings...What would you say are your goals for this season?
KC: I want to win five races, singles or twins. I want to win the championship. It’s a pretty big goal, but I think it’s going to be a great year. I feel that we’re the team to beat this year.. All I have to do is my job, and everything else will fall into place.

AMAP: Just out of curiosity, how did you get the nickname Kenny “King of Cool” Coolbeth?
KC: Laughs.. The late JB Norris came up with it. I don’t know why he came up with it. I don’t really care for it, but I’ll take it.

AMAP: Who would you say are your racing hero is?
KC: My first pick would be Bubba Shobert. I followed him when I was young and had pictures of him on my wall. Scotty Parker, Jay Springsteen and Ricky Graham would be other heroes of mine, but I’d say Bubba would be my first pick.
