Robinson Enjoying Early Success in 2013
DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (June 11, 2013) – To date, Brandon Robinson has yet to crack the top ten in the overall Grand National Expert point standings in his young career. Last season was the Oxford, Penn. product’s most impressive season yet, finishing 11th in the standings and recording just two top-five finishes. After switching race teams in the offseason, Robinson appears to have a completely revamped style of racing and looks to be a potential candidate to earn the coveted Grand National Championship this year. The 22-year-old finds himself atop the point standings heading into Round 4 action at the Lima Half-Mile and already has a win and one top-five finish to his credit thus far in 2013.
“It’s definitely unfamiliar territory but having this lead in the points is certainly a confidence booster for me,” said Robinson. “There are a lot of good riders heading to Lima so I know it’s going to be a challenge trying to maintain that top spot. I feel very comfortable with my team this season and like our chances of getting another solid result at Lima and staying competitive throughout the remainder of the year.”
In 2012, Robinson seemed to catch fire late in the year; earning top-ten finishes in five of the final seven races of the season. A combination of carrying over that momentum and switching race teams this past offseason seem to be the formula for the No. 44 TJ Burnett Farms USC Kawasaki Racing Team rider’s success so far in 2013. Robinson’s statement win came at DAYTONA Flat Track on March 15 of this year when he outlasted a charging Brad Baker for his first career Grand National victory.
Robinson suffered a broken wheel during the Lima Half-Mile main event last season and was unable to complete the race. Look for the young star, mounted on his Kawasaki EX650, to rebound during this go-around on the uniquely designed pea gravel dirt track and try to build on his lead in the points. The event is located at the Allen County Fairgrounds and is scheduled to take place on June 29, 2013.
