Sammy Halbert Looks to Bounce Back at Stockton after Significant Knee Injury

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (May 1, 2013) – After tearing his left ACL for the second time back in February of this year, Sammy Halbert (Graham, Wash.) was forced to miss the AMA Pro Flat Track presented by J&P Cycles opening round action at the DAYTONA Flat Track in March. However, Halbert insists that he has fully recovered and will be all set for racing come May 11, 2013 when the series heads out west for the Stockton Half-Mile located at the San Joaquin County Fairgrounds.

“Overall the knee feels really well,” said Halbert. “I’ve gone through this once before which helped me be a little bit more aware of how to go about the rehab process. I’m definitely in the hole after missing the first two rounds of racing but I’ve been behind in the points like this before and all it takes is a couple of wins to get right back into the thick of things.”

There’s no denying the talent and ability that Halbert possesses, as he secured a Grand National Championship back in 2009 and was the runner-up to Jared Mees (Chester County, Penn.) last season for the sought-after title. After dedicating the last few months to a vigorous rehabilitation routine, Halbert is primed for another title-run despite missing the first two races of the year.

Last season, Halbert managed to tally up four wins and eight total podium appearances on his way to another stellar year. This year, the talented young star will begin his 2013 campaign mounted on a Harley-Davidson for Round 3 in a little over a week when AMA Pro Flat Track presented by J&P Cycles, the most competitive form of dirt track racing in the world, makes its first of four visits to California this season.

After dark horses Mikey Rush (San Jose, Calif.) and Brandon Robinson (Lancaster, Penn.) stunned an electric Daytona crowd as well as many of their competitors and more well-known stars among the AMA Pro paddock by taking wins in Rounds 1 and 2, the Expert Class looks to be very deep in 2013 and the battle for the coveted Grand National Championship is up for grabs.
