Sammy Halbert off to a Solid and Healthy Start to 2014

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (April 8, 2014) – Sammy Halbert is no stranger to the winner’s circle, as he’s earned his fair share of AMA Pro Flat Track victories and has landed inside the top five in the championship point standings on multiple occasions. Halbert’s resume is highlighted by his 2009 Grand National Championship and the Graham, Wash. product hasn’t let off the throttle since.
Last year, Halbert suffered the biggest setback of his career, sustaining multiple injuries to the head and knee that caused him to miss most of the 2013 AMA Pro Flat Track season. Last month at DAYTONA Flat Track at the season opener, however, Halbert proved to himself and the rest of the world that he is healthy and ready to take on 2014 with full force.
“I was hoping for a win at Daytona,” said Halbert speaking about his second and fourth place finishes to start the season. “But leaving with the points lead is pretty much a win. The championship is mine to lose now, which has me focused and motivated to get the job done.”
As for his plans during the brief gap between Daytona and next round’s action at Springfield, Halbert is staying busy doing what he does best. “I did a local race a few weeks ago and on April 27, 2014, I’m racing Eddie Mulder’s event at Willow Springs, which I always enjoy,” said Halbert. “I’ve also been doing flat track schools at my house. I enjoy teaching basics to other riders, especially kids. Other than that, I’ve just been staying in shape and getting my team ready for battle.”
Halbert’s next opportunity to showcase his talent on the national scene is on May 25, 2014 when AMA Pro Flat Track rolls into Springfield, Ill. for the Springfield Mile at the Illinois State Fairgrounds. Halbert will once again ride a South East Harley and Whites Harley-Davidson XR750 during the first Midwest event of the season.
“My twins program is once again sponsored by South East Harley and Whites Harley-Davidson,” said Halbert. “I look forward to keeping my Harleys at the front of the pack and collecting the Harley-Davidson contingency money.”
