Santa Rosa, Calif. (September 30, 2013) - Throughout the day at yesterday’s AMA Pro Santa Rosa Mile, presented by SDI Insulation and brought locally by Bud Lite, the huge crowd was dazzled by the amazing on-track action and the family-friendly events throughout the Sonoma County Fairgrounds. But as the main events neared, a heavy mist rolled in that eventually stopped the action from continuing. After numerous attempts to dry and stabilize the surface, AMA Pro Racing and Circle Bell Motorsports officials deemed the track unsafe to race on as daylight faded.

"It's very unfortunate that we couldn't get the main events in today," said Dan Johnsen, Director of AMA Pro Flat Track. "We tried everything we could as far as prepping the track to get it back in racing condition but the mist was deceivingly limiting to our efforts."

A tense discussion between riders took place on the front straightaway as enthusiastic cheers erupted from the crowd to urge the riders to give it one more try.

“I would like to thank the fans for their support and passion,” said Bob Bellino president of Circle Bell Motorsports. “And, I would also like to thank AMA Pro and the riders for doing everything in their power to continue the show for the fans. We know the riders risk their lives under even optimum track conditions to put on the best show in motorsports. There is no reason to knowingly put them in an even higher risk situation. The heavy mist that settled over Santa Rosa in the late afternoon made it impossible to run a safe race. We certainly support AMA Pro’s decision and look forward to a great race next year.”

Normal purse payouts will be paid to both the Grand National Expert Twins and the Pro Singles riders per order of their starting positions for each main event. Each rider that was scheduled to participate in their respective main events will be awarded one point in the standings. The usual point and cash payouts for the Grand National Expert Dash for Cash will remain the same.

Brad Baker's victory in the Dash gave him an additional five points, increasing his lead in the overall standings to 11 points over second-place competitor Bryan Smith with only one round remaining in this year’s AMA Pro Flat Track Championship.
