Seven-time Grand National Champion Chris Carr embraces new role as AMA Pro Flat Track color commentator

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (March 11, 2015) – Chris Carr eats, sleeps and breathes AMA Pro Flat Track racing, and now he will talk it, too.

The seven-time Grand National Champion and winner of 78 main events throughout the course of his astounding 26-year racing career will make his debut as AMA Pro Flat Track’s color commentator for the season-opening doubleheader Thursday and Friday, March 12-13, in Daytona Beach, Fla.

“It’s kind of like being a rookie all over again, just with different stakes,” said an enthusiastic Carr while describing his thought process heading into his first season announcing the sport that he’s grown so passionate about. “AMA Pro Flat Track has been a way of life for me, and being a color commentator on FansChoice.tv and for the people at each race is going to allow me to share that knowledge with a lot of people.”

Carr’s 78 AMA Pro Flat Track main event victories are second to only Scott Parker’s 94 on the all-time list. Carr is also the all-time leader in Short Track (ST) victories with nine, including three at Daytona, and in Tourist Trophy (TT) events with 15 wins to his credit.

Carr’s expertise and knowledge of AMA Pro Flat Track is unrivaled, and there is little doubt that his presence in the announcer’s booth will be greatly welcomed by the community and fans alike.

“I’ve always felt that I have an eye for what’s going on at the track in a way that is different than what has been explained during events in the past,” said Carr. “I believe I can offer a point of view that hasn’t been seen in a while and I would like to explain to our viewers what’s going on more in between the ears of the riders. The physiological part of racing is a component that often gets overlooked and there are certain things that go on that I want to delve in to, and I intend to bring those components to light rather than keep them in the dark.”

Seven-time Grand National Champion Carr will be joined by seven-year play-by-play man Scottie Deubler in the announcer’s booth in 2015. The two have known each other for years and Carr believes they will make up a strong team this season and for seasons to come. First-year addition Dani Medin will handle pit reporting duties at every round as well.
