Special partners pitched in to make Lima Half-Mile purses even larger

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (July 2, 2014) - Sammy Halbert may have seen his chance to win the Lima-Half Mile in Lima, Ohio, this past weekend end prematurely with a mechanical issues while leading midway through the Grand National Championship main event, but he was still able to walk away with nice pay day thanks to various partners who beefed up the purse for the event.

On top of his $1,000 Dash for Cash winnings, Halbert received an additional $2,000 from the George Roeder Memorial fund, and that was just part of an additional $6,500 that was added to the purse at Lima for the weekend’s races.

Lima Harley-Davidson, American Harley-Davidson, Roeder Racing, R&D Machine, Las Vegas Harley-Davidson, Schaeffer’s Harley-Davidson, IMDA (promoters of the Springfield Mile), Peoria Motorcycle Club, Ron & Sadie Walp and Jessie Roeder combined to donate $4,000 to the George Roeder Memorial Dash fund that was handed out to the top finishers of the dash.

Jim’s Harley-Davidson, Harley-Davidson Center, Mid-Ohio Harley-Davdison and Lima Harley-Davidson pitched in an additional $2,500 for different heat winners and riders who posted the fastest laps.

Jared Mess won the Grand National Championship main event, pulling away from Bryan Smith midway through the race after Halbert bowed out. Brandon Wilhelm, winner of the Pro Singles main event, also received an additional $100 for turning the fast lap in that race.
