Superprestigio Thursday Practice Notes

LAS VEGAS (Nov. 20, 2015) - Riders not competing in the AMA Pro Flat Track Championship Final on Friday night were allowed to ride the Chris Carr-designed, Dennis Pearson-prepared flat track at the Orleans Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas.

Yoshimura Suzuki Factory Racing MotoAmerica Superbike pilot Roger Hayden was very fast on his Yoshimura-prepared Suzuki.

2010 Moto2 World Champion Toni Elias was fast on the racetrack, and very happy off it.

2015 MotoAmerica Superstock 1000 Champion Jake Gagne was quick and will only get faster with more laps. What’s next for the roadracer who qualified for an AMA Motocross National in 2015?

Teammates for the weekend 4 Time AMA Superbike Champion Josh Hayes and 2015 MotoAmerica Superstock Championship runner-up Taylor Knapp tested at Perris Raceway last week. Hayes described his Keith McCarty-prepared Yamaha as a “missile”. He approached his practice methodically, as expected from someone with his experience.

MotoGP racer Anthony West arrived in the United States, drove straight to New Mexico where he set the lap record at a club event, then spent the next two days marooned – fixing the transmission in his borrowed truck. He arrived at the Orleans, worked on his borrowed motorcycle, and was on the limit from his first lap. Spectacular doesn’t describe it.

2015 MotoAmerica Superstock 600 Champion Joe Roberts showed why many consider him to be the next US World Champion. Fast and enthusiastic on the racetrack.

Larry Pegram looked comfortable on his Pegram-racing prepared motorcycle. His team has been working together for a decade.

Freestyle Champion Aaron Colton on the other hand was his own wrench. Aaron is tall for a flat tracker, and has a spectacular riding style. He’ll be fun to watch.

Spanish teammates Franc Serra and Dani Ribalta were very comfortable in the mix. Ribalta’s supermoto background gives him incredible bike control.

2015 AMA Pro Xtreme Hillclimb Champion may have turned the most laps. A sleeper?

3 time AMA Superbike Championship runner-up Blake Young was returning to his flat track roots. Fast at times, if he can piece it all together he’ll only get faster.
