POMONA, Calif. – With motorcycle racing dating back to 1947 at this grand venue, the famed half-mile at Pomona is one of the most iconic races on the AMA Pro National Tour. This could all come to an end after this year’s AMA Pro Law Tigers Flat Track Finals Saturday October 11 as the fate of the famous track is up in the air with the announcement of the cancelation of horse racing effective November 1, 2014. No official word has come yet, but the availability of the track is uncertain for 2015 and beyond. With this news, the event promoters and some of the legends of the sport have joined forces to make this the greatest Pomona Half-Mile in history.

“The fact that this could be the last flat track race at Pomona is hard to accept. We hope that everyone will come out one last time and salute this track for the great memories it has created. With the participatory events we have scheduled for this year’s race, this will be a Pomona to be remembered forever”, said event co-promoter Charlie Frank.

As part of the activities for this year’s event, the promoters have scheduled a Pomona Lap of Honor where attendees who ride their motorcycles to the event and who have an admission ticket to the race are welcomed to participate in a slow speed lap on the famed race track prior to the AMA Pro races. The Lap of Honor at Pomona is open to anyone 18 years of age or older. Participants need to line-up at the turn four cross-over at 5:45 pm, sign a waiver, and will be escorted onto the track at 6:15 pm. This historic lap around this famous venue will be led out by Ari Levenbaum of Law Tigers, Oliver Shokouh of Harley-Davidson of Glendale, Brian Law of Pomona Valley Harley-Davidson and Adam Gaspic of Gasser Customs.

In addition to this being the final round in the AMA Pro National Championships, the event is highlighted by unique motorcycle themed activities and events including the Gasser Customs Vintage Bike Show & Pin Up Girl Challenge, the Ascot Flat Track Reunion & Legends Autograph Session, the Super Speedway Bike Invitational and a live performance by Southern California’s rock-a-billy band the Loveless. Your ticket to this event gets you admission to all of these great events.

With word that this could in fact be the final event at the famed Pomona Half-Mile, the legends in the world of motorcycle racing are flocking to the AMA Pro Law Tigers Flat Track Finals, Saturday October 11. “With over 40 legends attending, this is the greatest collection of flat track legends ever assembled at one event. Larry Langley, who is coordinating the legends autograph session and I have had to stop taking requests to be present at the Ascot Reunion & Autograph Session on the night of the race because the number of legends that want to come out is incredible. I’ve never seen a show of support for an event like this in my years of racing. All fans should bring something to sign and come out and meet this giant collection of motorcycle racing icons at the event Saturday, October 11th”, said Ascot Reunion coordinator and former flat track racer Dennis Kanagae.

For those fans wanting to sit with the racing legends, premium tickets are available on the event website (www.FlatTrackFinals.com) in the Legends Turn One section, which is perched above the action of turn one. In addition, Checkered Flag Club tickets are currently available, which feature a bird’s eye view of the track including elevator access and a VIP entrance.

In a fitting tribute to the 60+ years of motorcycle racing at this event, the promoters have created a “Tribute to Pomona” retro-style poster. This amazing poster was created with the years of racing at this famous track in mind. The “Tribute to Pomona” commemorative poster will only be available for purchase at the event on Saturday, October 11th.
