ATLANTA, Ga. (June 25, 2014) – Shayna Texter and the #25A Latus Motors/Castrol/ Triumph team and Mikey Martin and the #91 Bonneville Performance/Castrol/ Triumph team are headed to Lima, Ohio’s Allen County Fairgrounds to compete at the shortest and perhaps most challenging track on the AMA Pro Flat Track Grand National Championship series.

“There’s nothing like Lima. You absolutely have to go there,” said Martin. “We race at a lot of tracks that are also used for horse racing, but this is the only track with a deep cushion surface. It’s a lot of fun to ride on because the bikes really dig in, but it’s also one of the most grueling because you’re constantly being pelted by a gravel storm.”

The AMA Pro Flat Track Series stays close to the sport's roots by hosting races at many tracks that are primarily used for horse racing. The Allen County Fairgrounds’ .46-mile dirt oval course is the only track on the AMA Pro Flat Track series that features a “deep cushion” surface, which is a mixture of dirt and pea gravel.

“Some of the year’s best flat track racing is at Lima,” said Bonneville Performance team owner Bill Gately. “The tires dig into the track surface like nowhere else. We’ll go through three rear tires in three practice sessions, a heat race, and a final. That’s unheard of at other tracks. Even with the extra traction, the rear tire’s always spinning. The riders can really show what they’re capable of doing with the bikes.”

Shayna Texter continues her rookie attack in the twin-cylinder Grand National Championship this year.

“We’re making really good progress with the bike’s development. We had our hands full the first race of the season, but things keep getting better and better,” said Texter. “This is a horsepower track, and I’m really looking forward to pitching the bike into corners at Lima with all that power.”

The Ohio National Championships are this Saturday, June 28th. The first practice session is at 3:30 p.m. and Opening Ceremonies begin at 7:00 p.m. For more information, check out the Ohio National Championship schedule at AMAProRacing.com.
