X Games Harley-Davidson Flat Track Athlete Spotlight - Jared Mees
Note: AMA Pro Racing will be highlighting all 24 of the athletes racing in X Games Harley-Davidson Flat Track, which will take place Thursday, June 4 at Circuit of the Americas in Austin, Texas, and be shown live on ESPN at 8:30 p.m. ET, 5:30 p.m. PT.
The end of the 2014 AMA Pro Flat Track season didn’t exactly bring rest and relaxation for Grand National Champion Jared Mees.
Instead of just soaking in the glory of his third championship, Mees went on an international flat track tour, racing in a pair of prestigious exhibitions across two continents. The first was the Superprestigio in Barcelona, Spain, where he battled road racing superstar Marc Marquez and ultimately finished second to the two-time defending MotoGP champion.
Mees, who will ride the No. 1 Rogers Racing Harley-Davidson XR-750 in X Games Harley-Davidson Flat Track, then went Down Under, where he won the Troy Bayliss Classic, hosted by the Australian road racing legend, Troy Bayliss, who won three World Superbike titles during his illustrious career.
Mees is back to defend his AMA Pro Flat Track Harley-Davidson GNC1 presented by Vance & Hines title in 2015, but he’d love to add an X Games medal to his impressive list of accomplishments.
It’s a special honor for Mees to ride the No. 1 plate as flat track makes its X Games debut.
The “Jammer” as he’s known as in flat track circles is married to fellow flat track and X Games competitor, Nichole Mees. The two wed on the track, at the historic Springfield Mile in 2013. Together, they are the first husband and wife team to compete in the X Games.

In their words: “It’s pretty cool to say that in the very first X Games Flat Track ever, I’m going to be able to carry the No. 1 plate. And, of course, it would be cool to go there and get X Games gold, but more importantly, I want to just put on a great show and showcase what flat track is all about.”
