While largely overshadowed by the historic success of his older brother Briar, Bronson Bauman has quietly established himself as among the truly elite racers on the Progressive American Flat Track scene. Bauman actually struggled to qualify for Main Events and seriously contemplated retirement as recently as 2018. But the younger Bauman made the most of a late-season opportunity to sub with the Indian team, impressing the squad enough to earn a full-time ride for 2019. His rise has been meteoric ever since. Bauman scored his maiden premier class victory at the Laconia Short Track and notched up five total podiums along with 11 top fives in 2019. That consistency allowed Indian to complete a top-three lockout of the final Grand National Championship standings. He backed that up with another top-five GNC showing in 2020. The season saw him log podiums at Williams Grove and Atlanta while running sixth or better in more than half of the season’s races. In ‘21, he proved he could still run in the top five even as a true privateer, showing the grit and determination that earned him a call from Latus Motors to help develop its Harley-Davidson XG750R in ‘22. He made the most of the opportunity, claiming multiple top fives including a runner-up finish in the season opener at Volusia. In '23, Bauman used that hard-earned experience as a developmental rider to help tame KTM’s powerful 790 Duke. Again, he demonstrated his adaptability with 11 top-ten finishes, including eight in succession. Capable of muscling a big twin around, the Californian is at his best in tight, bumpy conditions. That said, he’s also showcased improved savvy and tactical prowess with each subsequent lap of experience on bigger tracks.
