Spanish Flat Track superstar Ferran Cardús is a prime example of dirt track’s global rise and the depth of talent the sport is fostering all over the world.
Cardús came to the attention of 2013 Grand National Champion Brad Baker while racing and training overseas. Impressed with his attitude and ability, Baker took Cardús under his wing and facilitated the Spaniard’s introduction to Progressive American Flat Track racing in 2017.
Since that time, Cardús has raced in select events, and, at times, teased blistering speed.
Considering the fact that, prior to racing in the States, he’d never competed on a dirt track longer than a quarter mile, it’s no surprise that he’s at his best on TT and ST circuits. That’s doubly true when you take into account his roadracing and supermoto background.
However, he quickly acclimated to the more unfamiliar circuits, achieving a top-ten result in his first-career Half-Mile at Charlotte in ‘17.
Cardús’ best Progressive AFT finishes yet came in 2021 when he earned third-place finishes in the Parts Unlimited AFT Singles Mains at the Atlanta Super TT and Peoria TT. He also added a top five at the New York Short Track I to boot and combined to claim eight top tens across the ‘21-’23 seasons.
