The youngest of the fabled Hayden brothers, Roger Hayden recently retired following a long and accomplished roadracing career.
The Owensboro, Kentucky, native walked away from the sport as the 2007 AMA Supersport champion, multi-time AMA Superbike race winner, MotoGP top-ten finisher, and WorldSBK and Moto2 competitor.
Among the most beloved racers on two wheels over the previous two decades, Hayden also collected some impressive accolades as a dirt tracker. In 1998, he was named the AMA Dirt Track Horizon Award winner (an award, incidentally, that has since been renamed to honor his late, great brother, Nicky Hayden). And in 2002, he made history when he and his brothers, Nicky and Tommy, combined to lock out the podium at the Springfield TT.
An avid bicyclist who became fanatically fit during the later stages of his Superbike career, Roger kept himself in good shape post-retirement just in case any interesting opportunities came his way.
One did. Hayden was drafted into semi-regular substitute duty at Estenson Racing in 2019 on the occasions JD Beach was absent due to scheduling conflicts with his MotoAmerica Superbike responsibilities.
Hayden scored points in four Main Events with a best result of eighth coming at the Laconia Short Track.
