Jake Johnson ranks among the most decorated riders in Progressive American Flat Track history. Back-to-back Grand National Champion (‘10-’11), two-time GNC1 Singles Champion (‘06, ‘08), GNC1 Twins Champion (‘10), and AMA Flat Track Rookie of the Year (‘02)… there are few accolades Johnson hasn’t garnered during his glittering professional career.
His status as a year-after-year title contender and Grand Slam winner three times over attests to both his versatility and caliber, but Johnson’s edge in recent years has been most evident on tighter TT and ST racetracks.
Johnson gave Estenson Racing its first premier-class victory with a win at the 2018 Buffalo Chip TT after tracking down and overtaking Mission SuperTwins megastar Jared Mees.
He was meters away from repeating at the Buffalo Chip in 2019, but an ill-timed mechanical issue that struck while exiting the race’s final corner opened the door for teammate JD Beach to sweep by and edge him to the checkered flag.
Johnson entered the 2020 season on the sidelines but was recruited out of retirement by R/J Performance Racing/Hite Trucking at midseason. Despite missing six races to start the year, Johnson immediately strung together five straight top tens to end the season ranked inside the Mission SuperTwins top 15.
Johnson was groomed as a flat track racer from birth and started riding on a Honda Z50 at the age of three. He’s been a dedicated motorcyclist ever since, directing his professional focus and free time alike to two wheels.
