Even prior to his recent heroics in Parts Unlimited AFT Singles and Mission Production Twins competition, Mikey Rush was already a proven commodity in the premier class of Progressive American Flat Track racing.
As the 2007 Rookie of the Year and a two-time GNC Main Event winner, Rush could be expected to break inside the top ten with regularity and occasionally do considerably better than that.
However, after years of living the privateer life, he finally got a taste of what it was like to be a factory rider during a stint as a substitute for the official Harley-Davidson team in 2018.
Armed with that experience, Rush was eager to become one of the first in a developing trend of established Twins riders to represent manufacturer-backed AFT Singles efforts when offered the opportunity by Richie Morris Racing and American Honda in 2019.
The Californian came through in a huge way, finishing the season as the ‘19 AFT Singles championship runner-up with four wins and seven podiums. Light and compact, Rush was outstanding on the Miles in 2019, winning three times. However, he also showed off the skills that made him a two-time premier-class Short Track race winner with a victory at the ‘19 Laconia ST.
Rush campaigned for Estenson Racing Yamaha in 2020 and 2021, notching up another win and nine podiums during that span.
Unfortunately, his ‘21 season ended with serious injuries suffered in the season finale. Despite the setback, Rush battled his way back to fitness for 2022. Despite running a limited Mission Production Twins season, he still managed to finish inside the championship top ten with a win at the Black Hills HM and a runner-up at the Sacramento Mile.
Rush’s bad luck returned in ‘23, which ended prematurely due to injury.
